Molecular upconversion turns infrared into visible light

The first demonstrations of coherent conversion of mid-infrared light to visible frequencies were reported in Science. The stunning experiments performed in Christophe Galland’s lab at EPFL show the principle of molecular optomechanical upconversion beautifully. We’re proud to contribute to this work. Congratulations Wen, Philippe, and Christophe! The mechanism is at the heart of the EU Program THOR, which publishes two papers in Science today.
